March 25, 2020

Updated 03-24-20 @6:18pm CST:

Update: Many of our client families are concerned about the recent school closures and are asking if the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak will affect special education services for their disabled student.  In a clarifying statement from the US Department of Education: "To be clear: ensuring compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), † Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (Section 504), and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act should not prevent any school from offering educational programs through distance instruction."  Read the entire fact sheet here:

The FLDOE website posted this statement, “To support students with identified IEP-related services who may have a disruption in services, school districts are given flexibility for the remainder of the school year to provide alternative services or delay services until later in the summer months, in coordination with a student’s parents and IEP team.”
